My “magical” weekend

My weekend just gone was a mixture; there was a little relaxation, a little adventure and more than a little Magic! If that awfully obvious hint didn’t give it away, I got to see the Reggae pop band Magic! perform live at the Peterborough Music Festival ๐Ÿ˜€

In the summer, Peterborough hosts a biweekly free festival in Del Crary park where groups big and small come to play to an excited crowd. Magic! were the band playing on Saturday when I turned up with my Meetup group. I decided to download the Meetup app so I could find things to do during my short time here in Peterborough as I haven’t really got enough time to form significant friendships while I’m working. I’ll admit that meeting up with a bunch of strangers was a bit daunting but I took the leap and had an AMAZING time!! I’m also slightly in love with the guitarist/ pianist Mark Pelli who is both incredibly hot and a great musician โค (I got to touch his and the lead singer’s hand at the end of their set)

After the excitement of Saturday night, I obviously spent all of Sunday resting in bed right? WRONG! I decided to go and investigate the lift lock in Peterborough by taking a trip out in a voyageur canoe. The lift lock was completed in 1904 and, standing at 43m, is the largest of its kind in the world. It works by using water weight to lower one basin while the other raises due to the action of hydraulic pressure. I had a look around the museum to learn a little about how everything worked then set off in my canoe (I didn’t take any pictures in the canoe as I didn’t want my phone to go for a swim). Added bonus, I got a special badge from the museum for being an out of town visitor ๐Ÿ˜€

After my paddle, Catherine and I visited her friend, Jeanette’s house where we ate a wonderful vegan dinner she prepared for us. I have had a good week so farย and have begun to adjust to the heat, I’m looking forward to updating you again soon ๐Ÿ˜€

Love to you all from Canada xx
